How do you feel about religious topics being discussed on your forum?

Religion often leads to disagreements and arguments that can become toxic. It might cause fallout between members and could create unwanted drama. Some forums choose to forbid religion and such topics altogether.

Where do you stand and why?

From my experience, religious topics being discussed on forum usually blows up to a heated arguments. No matter how people try to keep it calm and civil, things always go out of hands. It's why even though I'm not totally against it but I make sure the discussion is constantly being watched to cool things down if they want to escalate.

I want to allow it on my forums because it can bring about engagement but man it can really go wrong, too.

We haven't had any religious topics discussed on my forum, but some political topics have gotten heated in the past.

I'm a religious person as I believe in God, so I don't know how I'd feel about those going against him.

It will most likely go wrong if it doesn't get a staff keeping an overwatch on how the discussion is going. Similar thing happened in one ROFLMAO forum some months back, the Admin had to step in to calm things down.

I think political posts will go south quicker than religious posts in this day and age, though.

It depends on the country if you ask me because over here, we are more easily divided by religion and tribes. Majority of the people have the same mindset towards our country's politics. More than 90% of our people hate the government.

I'd say it's the same here in America.

However, it's a division thing. Half hates the right. Half hates the left. Only a few of us middle people seemed concerned about the future.

It's the problem between the rights and lefts in America. They just can't find a way to meet at a common ground and resolve their differences. They are destroying the country more than they are helping it.

There is always a tribe and religious divide in most of these countries. The government knows how to use those two as a tool towards achieving their political objectives and don't care whether the people are burning as a result of that.

Illiteracy is the biggest weapon our politicians use to take advantage of the people because it's how they will be lying and deceiving people obviously but because a lot of those masses are illiterates, they don't even know what's good for them.

There are so many educated religious bigots that we have in the world. You might be thinking it is only the uneducated ones that get swayed by religious illusion still you see the ones that hold high positions in both government and private sectors.

I sincerely think that placing a ban on religious related discussions on a forum is too restrictive. I would allow religious discussions on my forum but with good moderation. Even if there are arguments, it should not be dramatic. I would ensure that I use moderation to ensure that members don't attack each other personally.

It's like what we have been witnessing in my country now as bandits and Islamic extremists are killing without fear of the government but some people are advocating having a peace dialogue with them. It's a big insult to those they have killed.

The engagement level with religious topics are normally very high. This is why forum owners are open to allowing it being discussed in their community by members. They make sure to allow such discussions go on under watchful eyes of the moderation team to make sure they calm things down and prevent unnecessary escalating of drama and insults. I'm cool with engaging in religious talks because I'm an adult and I can be calm doing so.

I have an off-topic section where users can post about anything, including religion, but I wouldn’t actively encourage discussions on religious topics. It’s fine as long as it stays respectful, but I prefer the main forum focus to remain on core subjects.

Negotiating with terrorists by the government is an experience that I can't understand. What message do they think that they are passing to the world when it is read that the government are trying to discuss negotiation plans with terrorists. It is evil and poor management by the government.

I hardly engage in religious topics anywhere. I don't do it on forums and never on social media sites. It's worse on social media sites because no one regulates how the discussion goes on as it always ends bad. Even if what they are discussing is of an interest to me, I'll resist the urge to participate.
