I agree.
I think it's a poor thing to do but effectively, it's free speech and that's it. We can't dictate what people think, and we shouldn't.
However, forums are not public outlets. They're privately owned so we [forum owners] can moderate all day long what we don't want on our forums and...
I found this interesting piece on Bluesky today.
It details how you can use AI to fully create an article and then submit it without getting caught and penalized.
As a writer, I wouldn't use this for anything serious (other than to test it out) because I like to create content myself, but I...
Amen to that.
I always try to give people the advice of "give it a year."
Give it a year to break in and turn into something. Register that domain for a year. Pay for that software for a year. Pay your hosting bill for a year.
See where you are at day 366 versus what it was like on day 1.
Yeah, but you're dealing with the internet, man.
While the internet of things is awesome and such a grand tool for the generations that have been able to take advantage of it, being childish on here is almost a "God given right" whether it's a good thing or not.
There is no other platform...

I think we should at least set it up so the next of kin could inform members that the admin has passed away and what the decision is for exiting: keeping it going, selling it, or shutting it down.
In the old days, we just put up a premium membership and filled our forum with ads and sat back and made money.
That was fine until premium memberships got boring and members started using ad blocker technology. Then the money started dropping to a point to where many people don’t see forums...
Do you ever look for domain names that could be used to compete with your blog?
Do you ever buy them to sit on them so others can't register them and compete with you?
Do you think such a practice would be fine or is it unethical?
How do you feel about username changes on your forum?
Do you let members freely change their username at will and with no restrictions? Why or why not?
Is there any reason not to allow username changes?
Should username changes be transparent? Meaning, should they be announced?
Based on your experience, what are the DOs of bogging?
How about the DON'Ts?
What would you recommend new bloggers (or veteran) do and don't as bloggers?
I feel like something will have to be done.
AI basically scrapes information for search results. If people can't make money anymore from their content, many will quit. AI needs fresh content to keep providing accurate information.
