In the old days I left a site if I had to wait for a ton of graphics to load. That was the days of dial up and slow DSL. There was a time when the more graphics a person could add to the skin the more he could charge for it. You'd go to these sites and they were ghost towns. Now with high speed internet it's not a problem. I still prefer low graphics though.

I don't miss dialup.

I also don't miss the days when not all websites were responsive to the first smartphone wave. Nothing like your blackberry getting locked up LOL
 
Unfortunately the world has adapted to simplicity, flat design. Which I don't like. I'm probably one of the few that's stuck in the 2010s.

I'll redirect to a designer that creates stunning graphics, a woman who I've known for almost 20 years and has done so much graphics and themes for me. Which I prefer over any other design from nowadays:

 
These days simple is better for many people. I am one of those.
Me, too.

Complex is usually complicated for the end-user and backend-user.
