SEO for forums can be a difficult task.

If any of you are doing anything for your SEO, what exactly are you doing?

I'm not asking what we should be doing - I'm mainly asking what you are specifically doing that is working for you.

I just moderate the forum properly to ensure that high quality contents are the only kinds of contents being posted and not spams.

But not all members are going to have quality content in mind. They'll post one liner without knowing that it may or may not be helpful. If you moderate them too much, you risk running them off.

I’m building backlinks to forum topics, my homepage, directory pages, and I have alt tags on images that are included in my directory.

I also use header tags in certain areas on my forum. These tactics work quite well.

I’m also interlinking to other forum topics and pages that are similar to each other.

I think this is a smart practice.

Imagine how many orphan links forum owners make and don't even realize it.

It also helps when the site’s navigation. I think it’s important that we make navigation easier on our forums. It can also help our forums get indexed and rank higher on the search engines, especially if one of the threads is already ranking higher.

Site navigation is important.

On blogs, I keep a top level navigation only. No sub-menu or anything like that.
