Do you comment on blogs much?

Blog commenting can be a good way to promote your own blog, as long as there is a field for putting in your URL.

If you write the right comment and engage with the author and other readers who have commented, you can typically gain new readers on your own blog.

I suspect many skip this tactic because you'll only get a few potential readers instead of the massive ones you'd get with SEO and social.

What do you think? Do you practice this?

I mainly comment if I'm interested in the post and want to know more or have some questions. And if there is a section for a URL, yeah I'll throw it in .

However there have been quite a few where I needed to be approved. And I'm still waiting...

I think a lot of bloggers forget about their comment section.

I have the WP app on my phone so that I get alerts when new comments are waiting. I want to engage!
