Have you ever ventured into domain reselling business? There are some people whom have mastered the craft so wall and are making serious money from it.

Unfortunately, the bed isn't always rosey for everyone. This is because some people will end up buying domains with the hope of reselling them for a better price but end up not having any takers.

What do you think about domain reselling?

Risky, yes. But the money invovled and shelf time is huge.

I've been a domain name investor since 2006 or so.

But, I make $250~ sales here and there and $XXXX sales here and there. It keeps my portfolio paid for and allows me to run profitable.

I missed out on the CHIP ("Chinese") trend, having previously held hundreds of 5-digit .com names and dozens of odd 4-letter names (like dhrg, etc., or "premium Chinese letters"). If I had held on to that portfolio to the peak, it would've been worth $250,000, minimum, on a bad day, easy, if I wanted to unload them all to one buyer. However, I let them go for hundreds on the build-up (kind of like how stocks increase in price, so did CHIPs, and I thought hundreds was the max when it was around $2500-$10,000). I still had a pretty good return because I picked them up for $10-25 each, but I sure do wish I had waited it out before dumping them all.

I’ve made a bit here and there, mostly flipping aged domains with some search value. It’s hit or miss though—some just sit there collecting dust for months.

I buy domains that I believe I could "one day" make a project out of it. Sometimes I put them for sale and some have been sold. The money is good when I sell one. I use domains for anything, many times aging them is my plan... they are deductible on my taxes as well.

I love the domain leasing/financing business model. (both directions)
