A shoutbox or a chatbox would display at the top of the forum on all pages allowing member to chat.

The idea of it would be for quick chat while the forums would be for longer discussions.

Would this be something you all would want?

I had a shoutbox on a forum years ago and more people posted in this than the actual forum itself so we had to do away with it
 
I have never considered a shoutbox to be useful
Even there are public chats on YouTube next to videos, and I really think it's a waste of
resources. Comments are better since you can scroll down and read. But those chats are
just spaces for spammers to through things at it. I don't know, it's just my opinion.
