Do you get occasional instances of strange registrations on your forum?

Weird usernames. They never post. They might visit from time to time.

Do you think it's lurkers? Spammers? Something else?

If they didn't post anything, it's just lurkers and there's nothing wrong with them being around looking at things. Maybe one day, they are going to start contributing.

I get a mix.

One that join to spam at a later date (like weeks later)

and then the pure lurker. I'll see them on, lurking, and they never respond to my PMs

The one who joined, went undercover to spam weeks later thinks he's smart or what? Maybe he thinks you're not going to find out 😂.

As for the one who doesn't respond to any of your PMs, I would probably see them as a competitor just trying to keep tabs on your activities.

If so, that's fine, too.

I'm not really competitive. I'll gladly tell everyone all my tactics :D

As long as they are competing in a healthy manner, there's no problem with it all. I've seen where some competitors go to the extreme length of carrying out a DDoS attack on their rivals. It's crazy out there.

That's crazy.

You hope they get caught and their website gets removed from the internet. That's how I would respond. I'd get an AI to email me on every change they made and if it was a bad one, I'd use the change against them.
