Do you ever use gatekeeping as a way to increase membership?

Gatekeeping is allowing guests to read a portion of the post but then prompting them to join or login to read the rest.

If you do it right, it shouldn't be much of an SEO impact, and it might encourage new members.

What do you all think about this method?

Let guests see enough to understand why the discussion is worth joining, but not so much that they get everything for free. The key is balance - if the cutoff feels natural and the content behind it is genuinely valuable, it can boost sign-ups without hurting trust or engagement.

I agree. Gatekeeping is a good idea as long as you can bring value to the gate; otherwise, it will just annoy people, and they will move on.
