Have you ever used the powerful scarcity marketing technique on your blog or forum?

A few examples of this:
  1. You offer a lead magnet to subscribe to your blog's newsletter for a limited time in order to get more emails of those who want that limited time lead magnet
  2. You only offer a certain number of annual premium members on your forum, and you cut it off when that number gets reached which encourages more people to hurry up and upgrade, so they don't miss out.

The scarcity thing works but don’t abuse it. Fake countdown timers annoys me a lot. I still receive some “last chance” emails every week. Real scarcity like limited slots or time-based access feels honest and that's fine because once the users catch you lying, the trust is gone.
