Are you of you still submitting your blog to directories?
Are you using any general link directory or are you using blog-specific directory sites?
Do you think legit link directories are still a good way to market a blog? Why or why not?
I've seen blog memberships that go for $100 a year to $500 a month.
Blog memberships are typically easier to sell than forum memberships based on my experience.
How do you all feel as bloggers and consumers of other blogs/
What makes a blog membership valuable enough to pay for it? How about...
How do you feel about a like system for blog posts?
Something like a thumbs up and a thumbs down button. Whatever the reader presses, a small one-field form comes up asking them to explain why they like or dislike the post. The likes/dislike are not public but more for feedback reasons.
Do you...
How often do you login to your blog and view the admin area?
I probably log into my blog every other day to look for any updates or something like that.
I have the app on my phone in case there are comments, so I really don't need to login much aside from that.
How about you? If you're...
Do you use your real name as the author's name on your blog?
If so, are you just using your first name or your first and last name?
For those that are not using your real name, why is that? Are you using a brand name instead such as the name of your business?
Have you ever banned someone from your forum simply because you didn't like them?
They didn't do anything wrong on your forum and they're not causing trouble -- you just don't like them and don't want them on your forum. So, you banned them.
Is this wrong of a forum admin to do or should we be...
Do any of you ban entire domain names from being posted on your forum and/or entire email domains (or TLDs) from registering on your forum?
Do you think this is a good way to mitigate spam and abuse by banning domains and email domains/TLDs on a forum?
I've banned many of the new gTLDs from a...
To me, gaming seems like it's the most saturated forum niche out there.
I've seen more gaming forums than any other type of forum.
Gaming seems like a saturated niche. Unless you really narrow it down to something specific, I feel like it would be the hardest niche to run a forum on.
What do...
It's easier to join Reddit or social media and access unlimited different forum-like discussions than it is to join one forum at a time.
They used to say social media users and forum users are different. I think that's a copout. I don't believe it's a true statement. I think it's the same...
I hope you're right, but I feel like something other than forums will be the next outlet.
I feel like forums are like Msn Chat, the old tech. I foresee SaaS platforms winning as the next outlet.
Of course, everything will be mobile, too. Forums lack the mobile innovation that most everything...
I personally agree.
I have joined forums, though, that have required it. But they've been professional in nature.
Heck, I've had to upload my DL to Facebook to verify my identity especially once I got the blue checkmark on my business page brand.
I also expect human-generated content.
They can get their ideas all day long from AI, but I at least want human voices. I've studied voices on forums enough to know the difference, too. I pride myself on that.
So, I'll hire a posting service, see how they do, and determine if I'll hire them...
That's where it can become difficult because for people who know how to detect it, it becomes an easy task and all it takes is for someone to suspect it and that will likely cause them not to be a part of a community.
I pride myself on posting high quality and valuable content on forums that...
It would probably have to be a private forum meaning the content is restricted to registered and logged in members, only.
I could see a public troll forum becoming an issue enough where people start reporting it to your hosting service.
Maybe, make the titles visible (for hooks) and then...
I allow it to a certain extent.
I have seen some OPs get irritated though because the topic they posted got way off topic. I do think we owe the OP a chance for their topic to result in the intended result, right?
I think splitting posts might be a good way to please all sides. What do you all...
