I agree.
Besides, if someone is doing something they're not supposed to do, if you (regular member) don't like it, then you should report it, and then action can be taken if applicable.
I've definitely been there.
Pivoting many times.
Sometimes ultimately deciding to close shop and not do anything further but not because of the failure but because it made more sense to move on to things that are working.
I'm using his addon on another forum.
I got to be honest; I like the functionality of it. It does have a blog-feel to it. As that forum grows, I'm hoping the use of that feature also grows!
I think mobile apps for forums would be more beneficial.
Responsive themes aren't really that great. Sure, you can use them to post from your forum but they're very basic. It was like developers just wanted to get something made so basic mobile functionality would be possible.
This is why...
I like the idea of creating a "VIP" area for both those who choose to pay for it and those who're super active and really contributing and who simply have earned it.
I do think it's important to give paid accounts something unique, though.
I try to put eyes on everything posted on the forum, even if I don't reply to it all. But I at least want to scan through it and make sure everything is compliant. I'm sure that gets more difficult with a big board, though,
I think both sides are barely hanging on. I just don't think many are on board anymore, developers that is. I think many have moved onto different things and the old forum platforms are a waste of their time.
A lot of people don't want to see forums favor social media looks and features but that's the kind of platform that gets used, used way more than forums ever will.
I think forum software needs a BIG facelift.
Great advice.
Failure really is but a learning opportunity. If someone quits because they have failed at something, then they didn't take failure for what it actually is. And they've probably missed out on an important opportunity as well.
