Let's say you name your forum myforum.com.
Then you notice myforum.org, myforum.net, myforum.forum, myforum.etc is all available.
Do you register them all and point to your .com or does those not matter to you?
Have you ever changed a domain name for your forum?
If so, tell us about it. What was the previous domain and what was the new domain name?
Did you take any steps to ensure search engine health at all?
Was the change positive in the end or should you had let it remain as it was before?
My hosting service will allow me to renew my domain name for more than 3 years at a time if I want to.
I usually do every year for forums that I'm not sure will work out or not.
I do three years for forums and sites that I know I want to keep around.
