@AWS is forcing all employees back to the office for 5 days a week. A letter has been signed by many employees in protest at this decision.

Geez how insensitive to say to those employees that it’s impractical to travel to work that “there are other companies around”.

Pretty sure this is discriminatory to those with childcare responsibilities and neurodivergence conditions and disabilities, breaching the legal obligations to make accommodations.

Also I’m shocked that a technical innovative business like Amazon would adopt such antiquated ways of working ie being in the office. If their goal is to innovate, they should adapt to this generation of hybrid work.

I’m shocked they’ve trivialised the challenges of those who find it impractical to go into the office. I always considered Amazon to embrace diversity and inclusion.

@AWS please look after your employees, I speak out with all my heart ♥️ !

What did all the employees do before remote work was a thing, though?

Sure, but what about ppl already remotely employed having to move all over the country, and that could mean their husbands quitting their jobs. I imagine this is a part of their layoffs.

Maybe so.

If I were a remote worker, the first thing I'd do before accepting a remote position is ask the guarantee of remaining remote and then ask for a policy with that in it.

Too many people are taking the word of others as the gospel these days and then raging when it doesn't happen.

I used to be remote for my last job. I loved it. Then a new boss took over, he didn't like me, and he ended and I was back to driving 1.5 hours one way to work. Then I put my 2 weeks notice in and went somewhere else. I'm not remote anymore but I do live close to my job. 10 minute drive.

Thing is policies can change though.

Imagine if you live with a partner and your partner had to go into an office too though, and then suddenly the policy changed to you having to go to an office 3+ hours away - you’d most certainly have to relocate or find a new job. If you relocate then it’s likely your partner would have to find a job due to relocation goo

Right. I get it.

But what's the fix?
