No, in fact I have as everything that you can for email delivery turned off on my site. It is strictly an opt-in proposition.

I regularly email my members usually when I have a promotion running to get members to check the site.

Do you send out mass emails to your members?
I send occasional emails reminding inactive members about their membership.

There is an unsubscribe option if they wish to do that, of course.

I try to send less, though.

I think email works for some niches, others not so much.

You have promotions that members want to be a part of. To me, email makes sense.

However, I will say this. Email is still a king in the marketing world. Forums lack good mailing list capabilities. If somehow you could connect ConvertKit (which is now just Kit) into your forum and send a newsletter, you can use that to further market your forum.

Is the activity log automatically generated? You need to show me how to do that.
I think it might be.

I've been getting an activity log from Blogging Collective and I own the forum, LOL.

With XF 2.2.x, it has the ability to send out a regular "See what you have missed" email with date parameters that can be set under the control panel email options selection.

It is fairly basic in what it offers though. I think you can enter developer mode and edit the templates that it uses directly, but am not sure as I've never seen the need to do it myself.
It's a nice feature. On my site I have it as an opt-in selection as I disable as much as possible any email sending to users and force them to select it themself.
