The vignette ad format for Google AdSense is the one that takes over the entire screen.
Using two blogs with similar traffic rates, I experimented with using this format on one blog and not the other for around 6 months. I found that they blog using the vignette ad earn more revenue. So, after the 6 months, I switched the ad format on the two different blogs and the blog that I switched to also made more than the other one.
The ad format from my research earns more than any other format used. Maybe it's because people click it the most by accident when it takes over the whole page.
However, the ad format can be extremely annoying and even run off readers or even force them to turn on ad blockers. Because of that, I disable them on my blogs and yes; by doing so, I sacrifice potential profit.
Where do you all stand in using vignette ads on your blogs?
