Do your forum members use mobile?

I don't get on forums that much with my phone. I'm too much of an old-school desktop user.

On my sites, at least my blogs, most of the readers are on a phone. I'm not sure about my forums though.

Google Analytics can easily tell you that! ;)

Due to my niche, desktop/laptop will be the most normal access method.

I've just not integrated analytics into this forum yet.
Using DigitalPoints add-on it makes it as easy as you could want.
Also, if you are contemplating using CF (if you don't already) I'd suggest his add-on for that.

Those are free too, aren't they?

Yes they are... along with DP's Security add-on. On 2.2.16 it allows the use of Yubi key devices. On 2.3.4 you have Passkey built in so you lose some of the nice features of the DP add-on that is for 2.2.x over the 2.3.x version of it.

As long as a forum is mobile friendly, I wouldn't mind using my smartphone to access it. It's quite easy and convenient for me. When I'm at home, it's mostly on my laptop that I access any website or forums.

Yeah. I've not seen too many forum platforms that are very mobile friendly. Most are just responsive enough to be in good graces with Google. I think these platforms should build around the mobile-first model because in all honesty, it'll make it even friendlier for desktop users, as well.

The more I'm playing with NodeBB, the more impressed I am about it from a mobile use perspective. It is so much cleaner than many of the other "mobile friendly" forums I've used on mobile, including Xenforo.

The easier it is for mobile; I feel like the better chance you'll have it grow.

100% agreed! Millions of people are on their mobile actively more than they are on desktop and laptops. It's why they should be targeted as a priority.
I agree.

And like I said before, when you offer a mobile-priority site, it still looks great of Desktop - if anything, you make it easier to navigate.

Exactly! A forum with a very good navigation system makes it very easy to use it by anyone on any device they are on. When I can't easily get from point 1 to point 2 in a forum, I'm out!!

Navigation is really important to me.

If a link is hidden away, chances are, I'll never see it.

It's the same thing with me. I find it very difficult to look for things hidden especially when I'm not supposed to. It makes me happy when a forum owner pays so much attention to such details and make it easier for members to use the forum.
