Domain Hunting

If it’s never been used and it’s a solid brand domain, and you have connections for domain buyers you can make bank.

I sold one for 100 dollars then my whole account got hacked so it ain’t really worth it. Some of the domains I bought are now very big and well known.

Do you hunt for premium domain names?
It's on my daily to-do list to find domains to add to my portfolio.

I've only ever held 99% .coms and could only count on my hand the number of .net, .org, .xyz, and now, a .forum I've held onto.

.org domains were good when Google favored EMDs, so I probably had less than 99% .com at one time, as I could develop a 5-page .org page with AdSense to set and forget. The method no longer works, and the EMD in .org isn't an invest-worthy name, so they all eventually got dropped if not sold for $1~.
If it’s never been used
This doesn't reduce its value. I can see how, if at one time, it was used for adult content, that it could be a hard sell, but it's not impossible.
I don't really hunt for domains if I have no use for them. It's a wasted money pit in my opinion.
Sometimes it feels that way to sit on a $10-500 domain name for 5-10 years, but that $5000+ sale at the end all but makes up for it. You can't just buy junk, though.
I don’t specifically buy domains unless I have a plan for them.
This is my methodology of selection. If I can have a plan for them, I know someone else out there may have the same or a similar idea. It's worked for me, and where it hasn't, I've developed minisites for AdSense revenue, etc., or just leave them parked.

I don't see the logic in this. I mean, say I invested $100 into a company and it went bankrupt. Am I going to choose not to invest $100 into another company when my outlook is 20+ year growth? (I prefer index funds and ETFs now, but I do have a small portfolio of select companies only.)

I've visited some of the domains I sold before and kicked myself in the butt for the price I sold them at. I no longer follow up on domains I sell...

There no logic to it. New domains can be checked what was on it how much SEO was done to it, its ranking. I was just buying very good home found domains that was not used or not company registered or nothing on it that I bought, but someone stole them all after I put one domain on an auction domain site and gave them my main account email to push the domain over.

It is not easy to buy, hold and then sell domains at a higher rate. Some domains get into us at a higher rate and take a longer shelf life.

It's definitely a gig for someone good at it.

I'll let things expire before I even think about selling them, lol.
