Do you hate it when you see members posting the same content on different communities?

I love seeing people active in different communities and bringing fresh perspectives and unique discussions to each one. It’s part of what makes forums so rich and interesting - every community has its own personality and style, and members bring something special to each space.

However, one thing I struggle with is the tendency for some members to copy and paste the same content across multiple forums. It’s understandable for people to want to share their thoughts widely, but when it’s a straight copy, it can feel a bit disconnected and loses that personal touch we value.

So I’m curious - how do you approach this as a forum admin? Do you encourage members to rewrite their posts to fit your community’s unique vibe? Or do you have specific rules around duplicate content?

I really don't like to see the same content/thread posted in different forums (even if the forum is not mine) I lose respect for those users.
It's a sign of lack of authenticity, I see it disrespectful towards the forum and its members. I see that as a lazy act.

I see it a lot on admin forums.

Pretty much word for word, copy and paste, too.

It's certain members, not so much the staff members.

I always try to be unique with my content. I understand the importance of it.

We need features to be able to select individual members to be "no follow" by search engines in case they post duplicate content.

The new version of Xenforo has an option to ‘noindex’ specific threads, preventing search engines from indexing them.

This option located in the ‘Edit Thread’ section.”

That is a pretty nice feature.

I forgot all about that.
