Have you ever used a forum software fork before?

I've seen most of them on Simple Machine Forum.

It's where people take a software and create a version of their own with it. As long as the license allows for it, you can do it legally.

Wedge was the one I remember the most. Arantor from SMF was a big part of that one. I think the project lost interest and eventually died off.

I've seen a couple forks or phpBB. There is a fork of bbpress. There used to be a few forks of vanilla and phorum.

I wonder if forks are just the results of people getting made at developers?!
