Have any of you use GIMP at all for graphic design?

Do you find it to be worth using versus something premium like PhotoShop?

Used it year ago. I only use text logos now so don't use ant editing software other then what is on my phone.

I use PhotoShop but I have the suite (photoshop, lightoom, and premiere) for my YouTube stuff.

I use Gimp still for certain things, but I caught Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer on sale for 50% of so grabbed them. They are fairly nice but do take some learning.
The thing I like about them is they are not pushing SaaS in any manner.

Is GIMP SaaS now? It used to be free back when I tried messing with it.

No, sorry, I was referring to PhotoShop and SaaS since both it and Affinity 2 are paid options.
Gimp is still a stand-alone software you can directly install.

I've used GIMP and got pretty good at it for what I needed at the time.

But, I use Photoshop now.

Here's a hack to get it cheaper:
Enroll in a college during a free enrollment period (save money as an application fee could be $50+) and sign up for the student pack with all software for $19.99 using your student email address. It's then $34.99/year after the first year, still saving you about 50% (I believe the Photoshop+Lightroom pack is only $9.99, if you only needed Photoshop)

Yes, it is open source. And yes, it has improved over the years. Enough so that there are many in my main niche that use it to tweak their images with, especially now that there are some scripts for it related to astrophotography.

I probably won't give up on Adobe because it's so useful for my video production process, but I might try to mess with GIMP more.
