Have you ever saved a dying forum?

Have you ever had a situation where your forum or a forum you were helping out with was dying, but you were able to save it?

If so, how? Tell us about what you did to save the dying forum. Is it still active today?

I've always been torn between the decision of doing everything possible to save a dying forum or put in all the effort in starting a new forum from the scratch.

I've noticed that when forum members leave, they hardly come back. It's why reviving a dead forum is very difficult. A new forum with a good project will get a lot of attention if it's advertised well before launch.
