How do you highlight popular threads, media, and content without cluttering up the forum?

Popular threads, media, and content can help engage members to be active as well as lure guests into becoming new members to engage on the popular content.

When admins can highlight these types of things, it makes that easier.

But how do you do it without cluttering up the forum and decreasing user friendliness?

I always recommend pinning only the essentials, highlighting a few main threads—not too many, to avoid saturation—then grouping multimedia content into sections or tags that are quite specific, and also having a periodic rotation to alleviate any kind of saturation in the forum.
