Besides @AWS have any of you ever used a home server to host your forum?

Tell us about it!

AWS - you can tell us about yours as well :D

When I built my house in Illinois I had the architect add a climate controlled server room off the garage.

In it I had 4 servers. 1 for static pages and 3 for mysql and replication.

The servers were all dual Xeons with 256G ram.

Today I have 1 server that runs 3 Windows 2022 VM's and 1 Windows 2025 VM. The server is a mini ITX with 36G ram and a Ryzen 16 core processor. It outperforms my old rigs by far.

Nope, considering the ISP's that we have here locally prohibit that and will kill your account. And I'm not paying $1200 a month to pull in a dedicated fiber connection when I really don't need it and can get quality hardware from a vendor for less. ;)

Now, I do host a VPN server here locally, but that is mainly for when we are out in the RV so we can still see our local channels on Roku.
