How important is making money with your forum?

Do you have a goal to make money with your forum?

If so, how important is it to you to reach that goal?

If you never reach it, will you close your forum down at some point?

Right now, my goal isn’t to make money from my forum because I want to focus on building up the traffic and content first.

However, in about 6 months to a year, I plan to monetize it. I’m confident I’ll make money from it because there are multiple avenues I can explore.

With these traditional forums, I think making enough to let the forum pay for itself would be a good goal.

However, I'm working on a paid community using a more modern platform. The goal of that is to turn it into a secondary career. I hope to get it up to $1,500.00 a month within the first three years.
