Howdy folks,

I'm currently under an ice storm warning. I live in the area where the yellow box is, in extreme southern Illinois. Massac County.

As you can see, ice-aggedon is about to happen, LOL.

Power outages and internet service disruption are likely to occur. We're pretty far out in the country, in the woods. So, the power and internet tend to stay off for a while.

But I have Verizon on my phone, so I should be able to check in here and there.

But if I do vanish for a few days, well, you know why.

Obviously, we have all the needs to stay warm. Generators, gas, firewood, plenty of food and water, etc. All good here.

Hopefully, no disruptions!

Two of the best things one can have if in an area that it gets cold/icy is a generator with plenty of fuel (I like a dual fuel as propane tanks can store for long term) and a fireplace insert with a blower. The on in our fireplace can keep most of the house warm by itself as long as we have wood to feed to it.

Right now, we have a lot of ice on the roads, trees, and lines.

The power will go off and come back on and flicker here and there. We're tied to a main line, so we might get power back before a lot of other people.

The ice amounts and predictions are decreasing, though, but the wind is the main factor here.

Stay safe.

I don't miss those days. It might be colder than normal here, but, no where near what it was when I was in Illinois.
You were in northern Illinois, right?

That's a whole different level of cold LOL.

I'm 15 minutes from Kentucky. We all have the Kentucky accent down here, LOL.

While we don't get the upstate cold, we mainly get the ice and crap down here, but it doesn't stick around for long.
