Yes, it can be a hassle to set up on a VPS or dedicated server (can't comment on shared since I don't use that option).
But if you do not have IPv6 configured on your site, you may be missing visitors. The exception will be if you use CloudFlare because you can map IPv6 inbound to an IPv4 address, but you may not get good IP on the visitor because of that which can cause issues with anti-spam features and blocking users by IP.
This is the last 24 hours of my astro site. I was actually amazed at the number of IPv6 connections I am now getting from users.
