There does come a time when you have to stand up on your own two feet and say enough is enough.

I would suspect that the account has received multiple direct messages outlining the violations in the lead-up to a ban for calling someone an idiot, if they had overlooked notifying and sending the warning message for calling someone an idiot, which I doubt they did.

There were plenty of warnings to know that you were on the verge of a ban, as I suspect 1 alone wouldn't do it unless it was that egregious (in which I've seen them ban on the spot publicly), and I don't foresee them not notifying you in a DM for previous warnings that stacked up to the ultimate ban.

Perhaps you left the messages and forgot?

Just my 2c...

Sorry... for me (and apparently Opus X from what he has said) I never got ANY kind of notification prior to ban... either via message in a thread, DM or built in process.
I have previously posted the headers of ALL DM's and notices around the time that my process happened over there that I have gotten myself and there was only two years ago and they were minor.
I don't leave DM/convos, I simply stop participating in them. That way if I ever need to refer back to them they are always on hand unless staff/admin removes them manually.
These are the only two... and as you can see... they date back to 2023 and that is reviewing Convo/DM's that go back to 2013.

Notices of that type I usually also do a screen shot to put in a folder to keep in case questions come up later.

I can ask Opus X if he is willing to share his DM/notices over here... but he's actually rather burnt out on anything to do with running a site.

His health has not been helping that as with his new meds he does get to be rather short tempered from what his mother commented on and what I have saw from the last time I was over there with one of my scopes for him to try out an optical train he designed and 3D printed for use with his Canon DSLR and a laser pointing mount for use on a Synta mount.
The optical train didn't fit exactly like he thought it should and some threads chipped and he threw it against the carport wall and shattered most of it. He didn't appreciate my comment about him probably needing to have used a different material than the PLA he had and PETG is usually used for the items I have purchased that were 3D printed.

I want to keep allowing you all to have these discussions about the ongoing issues at XenForo.

However, I do ask that we avoid any name calling or anything like that. I don't want AAF to become the breeding ground of toxic drama.

I'm not saying that's happening, but I will stop it before it does.

Fair enough?

If you don't want to have it here.. as long as it doesn't get to off the rails, there are other places that are not so worried about upsetting the certain delicate people.
And they don't worry about being on the outs and endangering a license since they don't use XF on that site. ;)
That's why in the original post I linked to that other site.... I realized that it is rather a touchy point with sites using XF and some of the issues that go on with certain parties tied to that software.

It's not about upsetting "delicate" people, but more about preventing a toxic forum. I've been in the forum game for over 20 years and have seen it many times.

I'm not removing your right to discuss and debate it as long as it stays responsible. :)

So far, so good!

Not saying you were.. but there are those out there that fall into the delicate camp and you have committed a grave sin if you speak negative of a certain script and the report button gets used regularly.
That other site is rather more open as they don't mind the heat being turned up as long as you can bring some meat to roast over said heat. 🔥
They also encourage use of names that are not easily associated with normal user accounts for that very reason.
