Just want to say I have been a customer of Invision Power Community since 2011. I prefer them over vBuletin.
IPS 5 just dropped toward end of last year and completely took the forum software market by storm. I was going to go with xenforo but it didn't have the features I quite wanted. I opened a demo on both software's and IPS 5 just clicked all the checkboxes for me even though its 40 dollars more than xenforo, BUT I do get tenure honored discount at IPS for being a long time customer with them. I couldn't help but notice either that both xenforo and IPS really push their cloud hosting. I find it cheaper though however to just be a self hosted license. Though I am missing out on three in house applications from IPS for not going with the cloud option. Those 3 applications are Live Post, Courses and Quests. Live Post is like a seminar with a live chat. When the seminar stops all the chats and summery converts into a post. Courses is exactly what it sounds like... You can run your own digital classroom('s) with enrollment and everything, set users to be instructors and setup courses like an online school basically. Quests are setup to help guide new members or current members and reward them for being active. I can only see 2 of those being useful, courses not so much
Anyway even though its 6 month 150$ renewals they gave me an extra 2 months of updates for being a long time customer. I paid 150 because they honored the previous price and I had to convert my account to "Classic" which is self host to be able to download IPS 5 but by converting the account to Classic it raised the price to $200 but then after its paid its per year instead 6 months. Kind of wish I bought the "Lifetime License" back in the day. They were selling a one time purchase of a lifetime license for 600 dollars back around in 2008. You get IPS and all apps for the rest of your life. I'm not sure about the cloud service though when that came about... lol
Anyway, I'm loving IPS 5, its simple and I love the features!
