How would you define your blog niche?

There are really just two types of blog niches. There is a generic niche and there is a narrowed niche.

A generic blog niche is a general or broad niche. A good example of a generic blog niche is "hiking". If you blog about anything hiking, it's a generic niche. That isn't to say your posts are generic, it's to say that your topic is broad and covers many different topics so therefore it's generic or general.

A narrowed down niche is when you specifically define your blogging content within the general or broad niche you're writing it. A good example of this is "section hiking the PCT trail". It's narrow because you're specifically posting about a certain hiking activity type on a specific trail. You're narrowing your niche and audience to a specific topic.

It's easier to become an expert of a narrowed niche.

Do you narrow down your blog niche or do you choose a generic or broad niche?

What I found to be useful when it comes down to niche and SEO is your domain.
I think a good domain is needed for the branding more than SEO.

Some claim domain authority really has no ranking factor for SEO:

However, for branding-sake, if you have a .com domain name without numbers (unless that's part of your brand) or hyphens, it will be easier to remember.

People often forget about other TLDs because the .com is so dominant. And hyphens and numbers are so underused that it is even easier to remember those.

I always suggest getting a .com domain name using keywords that clearly identify your website's topic.

I chose "Another Admin Forum" years ago when I had the 1.0 version of this forum mainly as a joke because there were so many admin forums. I brought it back (now) mainly for the nostalgia of it all. But over the years, the branding of it has made it easy to remember among forum admins.
