Do you pay members to be a part of your forum?

If so, how do you pay members? It can be through points, contests, or other means.

Do you think figuring out a way to pay members without going broke is a good way to build a loyal community?

Paying members is not something I have done in the past but I know of some forums that have done and it seems to work out quite well for them. I do know that you have to be careful when paying members and in how you do it because in some cases, you can lose the engagement if members instead choose to rush through posting just to get paid.

I think paid incentives can help bring in some activity, but you have to make sure you measure the type of engagement so that you're not awarding people who are doing nothing for your forum but posting one liner or referring dead accounts, etc.
