Do you poach member from other forums that share your topic or are similar to it?
This term "poaching" refers to forum owners who join other forums like their own for the purpose of researching to find members of that forum who would be suitable members of their own forum. Typically, you would try to befriend the member and send them a private message inviting them to join your forum.
Some say this is an ethical way of getting new members on a forum while others claim it's unethical and borderline spamming, especially since the owner of the other forum likely doesn't know what your intentions are on their forum to begin with.
How do you feel about this practice?
If you agree with it -- have you used it and has it been successful for you?
If you disagree with it -- why is this and how is it different from joining a forum and putting your signature link in to recruit new members?
