I've seen some forums have an admin position that is dedicated to IT and programming stuff.

Is this a practice any of you do?

Do you think it's a good practice?

If you could do this on your forum, would you?

That's how I did it. When my Visual Basic forum was in it's heyday there were thousands online at a time and the forum got 200-300 posts a day. I had 5 admins and 20 moderators and 50 or so experts that kept up with the load. I let them run the site. They did the promotions and set the standards. I kept the servers running. I never voted on any promotions or got involved with the day to day operations. It worked out well.

I think I would reserve admin positions for myself or a tech admin.

Moderators are best for the rest of the tasks,
