Have you ever had to deal with a member on your forum who shows up drunk?

Now I don't drink anymore at all, but I have no issues with people who do. I do have issues with drunks who are mean and belligerent. I've had to put a few on the ground during my security/bouncer years way back when.

You can't detain them on a forum, though. You can ban them, however.

Have you ever dealt with a drunk on your forum? How about one that has repeat drunken episodes?

What is your response to something like this?

If you don't want to ban, what I would is talk to them about the community rules they are breaking but if they don't stop, I'll simply moderate their posts to be approved. They can decide to stay or walk away. Btw, I'll disable their DM after having a talk with them.

Yeah.

If they're a nice drunk and they're not annoying everyone, I'll let them be.

If they act like fools, I'll send them down the road.

Depending on the forum software I was using, I'll report their email and usernames to have them blacklisted from being able to register with the same email and username on any forum using the same software. I know it's possible with Invision community software.

How does that not get abused though?

I think it's only a forum owner that can make such a report because if anyone can do it, I'm 100% sure it's going to be abused.
I'd hope there is some kind of transparency mechanism in place to prevent abuse.

You know how some forum people are...
