Imagine if your forum software stopped getting updates.
In time, security flaws and bugs would likely occur.
But if no one was there to make new updates, you might be forced to change the software or even shut your forum down if there was no alternative.
So, with that being said, maybe forum owners should start learning the code that their forum is powered by.
If you know it enough to be able to patch it and fix security concerns, you could keep your forum going without worrying about the developer staying active.
How do you feel about such a scenario like this one?
