Sponsored Threads

In blogging, some bloggers will sell sponsored posts which is basically compensation for allowing a guest post that is commercial in nature.

Could the same concept work on a forum?

Companies could pay you (the forum owner) to make a commercially engaged post. You could also charge extra to have the post pinned at the top.

Have any of you tried this at all? If so, tell us about it.

I haven't done this yet, but it's coming
For now, I am accepting "Sponsoring a Category" which is similar to a sponsored thread.
But I would use both methods.

I like the idea of sponsored categories, sections, and threads.
