On many modern online communities that charge for membership, there is usually an upsell goal.
The paid community is usually just a front-end product that is cheaper to get. The upsell is to the backend product that is usually a lot more money.
Many backend products are things like consulting, coaching, hourly work, etc. They usually cost per hour and are designed to make the creator a lot more money than the actual paid community.
Have any of you used this model or have considered it with your forum?
Whether your forum is free or paid, have you considered an upsell technique for it?
