Websites on VPS

to be honest a vps should only host one website because if your not all tech savvy you will definitely encounter problems even use cpanel or plesk.

I have a few on mine. I've never had any issues. I use a custom panel developed by my hosting service.

whats yoir hosting company that you use? With vbulletin cloud they handle updates and if your a new site getting everything is very much pricy.

I've used DreamHost VPS for close to 20 years. They've been really good to me,

DreamHost typically managed all my server-side updates. Sometimes I do them, if different things are required. I do all my website/forum updates, but I know what I'm doing there so it's all good. :)

For my primary site, the only thing running on it (and it's a dedicated server) is that site. I don't even do my mail serving from it. Only the website.

On my VPS instances, I'll run (if a PHP based script or NodeBB) generally a maximum of 3 on them. I have one running a singular instance of Discourse.
With the current price of decent (not great as far as drive throughput) prices I am getting from Contabo on VPS instances (and they have recently gone up slightly on price and down on what they offer) it's not that expensive to grab one for a few sites and roll out CentMin on it if PHP based.
As I mentioned in other posts, I host my own MTA instance using Mailcow-dockerized, and the IP of that VPS instance (and in fact the ASN for the provider) gets me good mail delivery.
