Do you add whois privacy to your forum domain name?

Why or why not?

Of course. I always have my whois privacy enabled. I don’t think it’s a great idea for having everyone know where you live.

It’s a privacy feature and it’s a good thing to have it enabled.

With CF (and I think even NameSilo when I was with them) you have to specifically disable it as it was a default offering (no additional charge) except on a few specific domains where it is prohibited (the .US being one of them).

I also use domain privacy.

However, I've heard that it could be a strike against your website as far as SEO goes.

Kind of hypocritical.

While this technically isn't whois privacy, they are using MarkMonitor (the registrar of the big guys to protect their domains from mischievous name server changes/transfers/etc.), and everyone in the know knows that MarkMonitor is essentially whois privacy protection.

I feel like Google gives more SEO juice to Google sites on search than their competitors which is also kind of hypocritical LOL

I think all of the Fortune 500 companies use MarkMonitor too, but I may be wrong.

They should at least list their corporate address. But, some technically can't, because they're incorporated in Delaware with HQs in Colorado, Texas, and California.
