Do you think WordPress.com is worth the price for its paid hosting services?

If you pay monthly, it's $9 a month for the lowest plan or $70 and up for the highest plan. Each plan comes with limited space in terms of GB and specific features.

For those of you who pay for it or have paid for it, do you think it's worth the cost? Why or why not?

I don’t think its worth the price as there’s better hosting providers out there that don’t charge $70 a month for hosting.

I wouldn’t pay for it as I’d rather self host my own content on my own server.

Here are the $70 features:
  • 50 GB storage
  • Unlimited pages, posts, users, and visitors
  • Ad-free browsing experience for your visitors Unlock a clean, ad-free browsing experience for your visitors.
  • All premium and store themes Switch between all of our themes.
  • Premium stats Unlock all stats, including UTM tracking and device insights.
  • Customize fonts and colors sitewide Take control of every font, color, and detail of your site’s design.
  • Connect Google Analytics Link your accounts to gain more valuable insights in seconds. No coding required.
  • Upload videos Upload video files like mp4 and display them beautifully in 4K resolution, with picture-in-picture, subtitles, and without intrusive ads.
  • Install plugins Plugins extend the functionality of your site and open up endless possibilities for presenting your content and interacting with visitors.
  • SFTP/SSH, WP-CLI, Git commands, and GitHub Deployments Use familiar developer tools to manage and deploy your site.
  • eCommerce tools and optimized WooCommerce experience
I can pay $15/month for a VPS from where I currently host and get 60 GB of storage.

If I paid WP.com prices for the VPS, I'd get 240 GB of storage space.

WP.com pricing and features are way behind the times. I agree, I could not use their hosting service. I'm shocked others use it!

At one point I thought about it since I just wanted to make some posts and not worry about all the other things, like maintenance.

But the prices were too much for me, especially since if I wanted to use plugins I would have to purchase the business plan.
