At what point does founder burnout actually kill a forum?

Especially with new forums, I think founder burnout can kill a forum fast. This is when the forum owner simply burns out of keeping up with the forum, posting new content, or paying much attention to it. Am I right to say that forums need the founder to be a thriving and active member in order for the forum to survive?

How do you all feel about this?

There are some aspects of the burnout that's going to kill the forum instantly. Paying for things like hosting is a big issue. When a forum owner feels burnt out doing that, the forum will die a natural death.

If it's about posting and active, this aspect is where where needing staffs to help you run things is necessary. The staffs can be paid or volunteers but they assist in content creation and moderating the forum.

In the end, financial burn out is the biggest killer of any forum.

I think them paying for something and getting no results can burn them out, whether that means no profit, no Big Board, no community, etc.

But most of the time, it's a strategy and goal issue.

Yeah, that's very correct. Once they are not getting the desired results from what they are investing financially into, they can only do it for so long before they quit. It's human nature to behave that way.
