What have been your biggest mistakes made on your forum?

I made my first forum several years ago. I made the mistake thinking it'd be easy to get new members. It requires a lot of dedication to acquire new members, and grow a forum. Especially if you're trying to grow at a rapid pace.

It's best to start them after recruiting a friend or two to join and post with you.

You can focus on that while you grow it

Sounds necessary but the only issue is that, just like I’ve seen with paying members to post, I can smell a mile off when members are posting out of obligation or they are authentic

I don't feel like having a friend on your forum isn't authentic, though. You want one who likes the topic!
