I try to reply to all/most topics whenever I can add anything to the discussion, and I like to create a thread or two each day.

Daily at least. I try to post as often as I can. Some circumstances change that. Like hurricanes and such.

That's the best strategy, really. Daily activity of posting something and making sure everything is smoothly running.

As an admin, you should motivate other forum members by being able to step into conversations on your forum on a regular basis. You should post on your forum at least daily. Not many posts. Two or three is fine daily.

For a forum to stay alive, the owners need to show up often times in order to keep things going and it will be to always be there.

Keeping a forum alive is mostly in consistency and effort that one put to reply or write new posts.

I post very often on forums where I feel at home. If a forum is too strict, I find it very difficult to post and play around in such community. I wouldn't post anything which goes against any forum I love using.

As the forum owner, I post everyday. If I miss posting in a single day because I was busy, I would make sure that I get back posting the following day. I do two threads a week and three to four posts a day on my forum.
