How long did it take you to start getting real forum traffic?

I'm talking about real people who are visiting, consuming content, and becoming members?

It took me about a year to actually start seeing members interact, joining and becoming members. I've had a lot of lurkers over the year, but most of them are starting to show their faces now.

I always tell myself, the first year is the toughest, but the second is generally when you start seeing new members and actual growth compared to the first year.

Then, the third year is usually the easiest and growth really takes off.

I always try to give people the advice of "give it a year."

Give it a year to break in and turn into something. Register that domain for a year. Pay for that software for a year. Pay your hosting bill for a year.
