Have you ever been threatened by another person of getting sued over your forum or blog?

If yes, what did you do that they felt made you liable of their lawsuit threats?

Here's another: Have any of you actually been sued or attempted to get sued or sued someone yourself due to your forum or blog? If you can legally talk about it, please tell us the story!

One thing I do is state that any suits against the site or it's owner/management have to be done in a court of competent jurisdiction where its home base is.
And that is in the TOS/policy that you agree to when you join. That helps with 99.98% of any threats as most will not travel or hire attorneys that are qualified/certified to practice law in that jurisdiction (kind of like what Xenforo does with their requirement that you file any actions against them in the UK).
For those that have threatened it in the past... I just refer them to the agreement that they acknowledged when they joined.
For folks that are not members... the same actually applies to them since that is a site TOS agreement and by visiting they agree to it, even though they may not take the time to read it - that's their fault.

I haven't been sued or sued any person but I've been with someone who was contacted to change everything about his forum rules because he copied another forum 100% on that aspect. It was actually one of biggest owners of promotional forums that had the conversation with my guy to take down or change his own forum rules completely or risk facing the consequences.

I agree.

Really, that's basic "terms of use" creation etiquette to do that. A lot of people don't because they don't think anything will happen to them.

I always choose the county courthouse of the county I live in.
