Mobile Theme Importance

How important is it to you that your forum or blog theme be mobile ready?

Does it need to be fully mobile friendly or just basic repsonsive?

Yes, since most traffic is coming from mobile devices. I try to take a mobile first approach when working on my site: start small then build bigger.

I feel like the forum software/themer/addon community as a whole isn't following your same approach.

I agree. I guess since mobile traffic wasn't that big back then, mobile was more of an afterthought so design first for desktop. I haven't tried newer forum software but I think those that have come up within the last decade probably take a similar approach or at least take mobile design more seriously. From what I've seen Discourse and NodeBB are great for mobile.

That's good.

Even some modern community platforms like Circle has a bad mobile responsive interface unless you download their app.
