Allowing some profanity?

However, I tool a strong stand and deleted the private forum.

Did you work with the others to all decide to remove it or just do it yourself and not ask for their opinions?

I gave reasons why profanity shouldn't exist and no one could give any strong reasons on why it should. I guess everyone agreed.

So, I take it there was no objection or anger then from you doing it?

Well, there are people who enjoy discussing profanity. However, I am always against it and I will always take a strong stand. :D
What is profanity to you?

Someone saying that they hate someone could be interpreted as profane.

I don't mind it on my community, unless members start attacking each other. My niche is 18+ so we can all behave like adults.
Personal attacks on each other shouldn't be allowed in any community because that's going to degenerate everything good happening in the forum. If not stopped, it might lead to threats and that's not good to see.

Anything that is not safe for work is profane to me. Someone saying they hate someone is ok to me as long as it is not hate speech (for instance, hating because of race and ethnicity)

If I own a forum, I would certainly allow some mild profanity. For me, allowing some mild profanity makes conversations in forum discussions not to be rigid. Profanity that are light and conversational are cool for a forum I own as long as it is not directed towards anyone. Anything that is hateful or explicit or seem targeted? I won't allow those ones.

That's pretty much where I am. If the profanity is light and not being directed at anyone, then I can let it slide.

But if it gets directed, even for something like saying "Damn you!" in an angry way, then it's time to do something about it.
