How are you re-engaging long-time inactive members?

Your members joined your forum for a reason. At the time, they wanted to be active. Maybe they were active at one time but life or something changed that made them inactive. If they get re-engaged and it works, then you'll get new activity on your forum. An active forum looks better than an inactive forum especially if you're trying to attract new members,

How are you re-engaging inactive members who've been inactive for a long time?

Unless you know them personally or have email that they actually use it is quite impossible to re-engage long time in active members. These days people rarely use their best email to sign up on forums, so it is not possible to get in touch with email.
I never really thought about it that way.

I try to use the same email on everything for the most part. I hate having multiple emails.

But I unsubscribe to stuff and change notification settings often, too.

We are forum owners right? We use the same email, and most of the time the same username because it helps us. However, for normal user, our forum is just another forum, and they are afraid of spam, which is not unfounded since email spam is very common these days.

You know, if people don't open my newsletter for 90 days straight, I unsubscribe them.

Maybe the same concept should be done on a forum.

It would let you know who your REAL members are!
