    Glad to be here!

    Welcome, Dr. A!

    Gaming Latest

While not a gamer, I had to click on the forum to see the style. Probably one of the best styles for a gaming forum that I've seen! That brought back fond memories...

Telling people to search for the answer

That's good that it's not the default. However, I don't believe that language should be used if turned on by default, either. It's non-welcoming and off-putting.

    Off Topicz

This link no longer points anywhere (in the directory or @Nomad's signature) except for a PPC landing page.

Telling people to search for the answer

There's actually psychology behind people asking questions when they already know they can get the answer themselves without asking. I recalled this for "confirmation bias" from my studies, but I knew there was more to it than just that, so I had to refresh my memory with ChatGPT. Community...

    Monthly Resource Use

If we're talking server resources, that's one thing. Sometimes, I like to spin up instances and go full throttle on the CPU (I'm paying for it, so why not use it?). I've done heavy processing but capped it at 80% CPU so that it wouldn't bog down the instance enough where I couldn't get to the...

    Staying Logged In

Always logged in on my forums as it just makes it a bit easier to open and get to work (shaving a second or two off to log in). Also, I believe I don't have my privacy settings turned on to hide what I'm doing.

    Most you'd pay

Thousands, but it would have to be a commercial brand-free supported license by a trusted developer and be jam packed with options to essentially make 1 forum appear way different than another (sidebar settings, widget settings, header settings, etc.). Again, thousands. The extensions done for...

Do forums have too many settings?

I look at it like a control panel. Do you have too many settings in cPanel that could be automated? Sure. But, the versatility of making changes (like to your WAF by yourself) lets you handle tasks that need to be done. Speaking of the WAF, it is pretty much automated, but without settings, you...

    Do you drink soda?

I'll only ever drink Cola Zero if I do have a soda, otherwise, it's water or a sports hydration drink (a real one) for me.

How profitable is domain reselling business?

I've been a domain name investor since 2006 or so. But, I make $250~ sales here and there and $XXXX sales here and there. It keeps my portfolio paid for and allows me to run profitable. I missed out on the CHIP ("Chinese") trend, having previously held hundreds of 5-digit .com names and dozens...

    Monthly or Annual Payment

I'd prefer monthly unless a trustworthy host (like Amazon, Vultr, etc.) would do some kind of credit matching for time used (essentially pay for a year by depositing $800 and have them match $800 to use $1600 over the year).

    Hosting Panels

Before cPanel, I couldn't tell you what I used on shared hosting back in the 2000s... I used cPanel before finding Plesk as a cheaper alternative. Between the two, I still operated CentminMod (CMM) as a "control panel" of sorts (there is a "panel" of options of sorts, but most of it is CLI)...

Do any of you not care about mobile users?

I don't think it'd find any accessibility issues with the "bug" I reported as I set my zoom to 120% or something whereas Google probably just sees if it's accessible for 100%, which it is, except for the issue of the div padding pushing the X off the screen when zoomed.

    Not upgrading

I will typically skip one or two third-point XF releases (1.2.3) on my live forums, but will deploy updates on a dev to see if there's too much effort needing to be done to make things work, whereas I can just wait it out for other developers to catch up. It gives me time to ensure add ons and...

Freelance Forum Content Writer (Paid in Arrears!)

Still looking for more people who are passionate about topics they are interested in and can create posts on their own (Grammarly basic is fine to correct some stuff, but I'd prefer genuine style over over-corrected nonsense that takes emotion out of writing). I would prefer to hire forum...

Do any of you not care about mobile users?

But I believe it's a 3rd party lightbox so it would need to be fixed with them first, unless XF wanted to completely fork it.

    Whois privacy

I think all of the Fortune 500 companies use MarkMonitor too, but I may be wrong. They should at least list their corporate address. But, some technically can't, because they're incorporated in Delaware with HQs in Colorado, Texas, and California.
  19. F

    Whois privacy

Kind of hypocritical. While this technically isn't whois privacy, they are using MarkMonitor (the registrar of the big guys to protect their domains from mischievous name server changes/transfers/etc.), and everyone in the know knows that MarkMonitor is essentially whois privacy protection.

AI posts make you lose motivation...

If you're not going to put them to use. 👀 I just found SUMO yesterday. That is wild. I can have the lyrics I want with the beats I want and wouldn't know the difference.
