WordPress What’s your WordPress blog stack in 2025?

Oh I should have pointed it out, my bad. I was referring to why both Yoast plugins were needed. I like keeping them separated as well.

    WordPress vs. Ghost

I liked Ghost the first time I tried it out. When creating posts, it felt straight-forward and I could structure it easily. But the extensibility of WordPress was felt, knowing there were other things I could do to the post that I couldn't with Ghost.

    WordPress Default WordPress Themes

Before working with the theme I have now (Sage), I pretty much used these themes as a base and just made a lot of customizations to them. Haven't used the theme just as it is.

    WordPress Theme customizations

So this time around, for my blog, I decided to do something different and go with Root Sage, which is kind of like a framework for building WordPress themes. I saw some pretty cool themes on other blogs and saw that they customized it using Sage so I went with that. It was something new for me...

Oh, why do you need to have both?

    Paid advertising for your blog

Definitely easier to promote on forums. I felt like I had better success that way. Though if I did put in the effort perhaps much different outcome.

Forum marketing in the age of short attention spans

I did something similar, but it was more like How-To's revolving around my forum since we were getting members from other venues like Facebook that weren't familiar with the forum software we had (or forums in general).

    Failing at Blogging

Yup. I'm just beginning to do that. I'll likely go with the revision route if it doesn't feel really out-of-date.

WordPress What’s your WordPress blog stack in 2025?

Okay so this is what I have so far, but I might change it up soon. 1. I'm using cloudflare. 2. Nixihost 3. Wordpress.org 4. A custom theme I'm working on. 5. ACF and turnstile. 6. So far the theme.

    Failing at Blogging

I'm not blogging as much as I thought I would. I've written quite a bit so far (I have a few drafts going), but I feel like the stuff I have is incomplete and needs more work. I pushed through to get one done and get the ball rolling.

    Paid advertising for your blog

I'm not but I've tried paid advertising for other sites. Hasn't worked but that's more on me. I had a "set it and forget it" mindset, thinking just paying for advertising would automatically bring me a lot of traffic, without doing things like adjusting and research.

    Custom Blog Theme

The one I have going on my blog is custom. I'm still working on it. It's been mostly troubleshooting and just hoping things work but it is my first time doing it so it's to be expected. I remember buying a theme a while back on themeforest. I had the free version originally but I really liked...

Should forums niche down or go broad?

I did both directions. I had a gaming forum once that went general and I had an entertainment forum that ended up focusing on movies and music (with an emphasis on music). For the gaming forum, it just went there. We had more members coming in that didn't discuss games that much and over time...

The most profitable forum monetization method tried

I didn't make much profit, but it was direct ad sales as you mentioned.
